Nigeria: CISLAC Recommends Palliative Measures

With the continued shutdown of government offices both at the national and state level in Nigeria due to the spread of Covid-19, the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has presented ideas for responding to the pandemic.

The Executive Director of CISLAC, Auwal Ibrahim Musa (Rafsanjani), issued a signed statement urging citizens to abide by the government’s directives on mass gatherings and to observe personal hygiene guidelines, encouraging them to also imbibe healthy eating habits.

Furthermore, the CISLAC statement advocated for the government at the federal, state and local levels to waive taxes and levies as part of the socioeconomic palliative measures meant to ease the impact of the pandemic. Mr. Musa also urged civil society organisations and the media to continue sensitising the public and work with the government to curb the spread of Covid-19.
