Liberia: VTF Donates L$150,000 to Women Group

Varney Taylor Foundation (VTF) has presented a cheque of L$150,000.00 to Organisation for Women and Children (ORWOCH) in Liberia.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the non-governmental organisation (NGO), Vamuyah Sheriff, while presenting the cheque, commended ORWOCH for its efforts in advocating for the rights of women and children against all forms of gender-based violence in Liberia.

Sheriff, Development Diaries gathered, said that the money was VTF’s way of identifying with ORWOCH.

He urged members of the organisation to continue to be committed to the defence and promotion of women’s issues in an effort to accelerate Liberia’s development.

The Executive Director of ORWOCH, Mmonbeydo Joah, thanked VTF for recognising their effort in the fight and advocacy against all forms of gender-based violence in the country.

Joah said that ORWOCH envisages a Liberia where the rights of women and children will be respected and protected.

She added that ORWOCH was committed to championing the cause of women’s increased participation in decision-making, the reduction of sexual-based violence and gender stereotyping.

It is understood that Varnie Taylor is a United States-based Liberian lawyer and a philanthropic who supports needy people as well as organisations in need.
