After the March 18 governorship elections, INEC declared the election in Adamawa State inconclusive due to the margin of votes.
The incumbent governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had polled 421,524 votes, while his closest challenger and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aishatu Dahiru, also known as Binani, had recorded 390,275 votes.
Also, the commission declared the election in Kebbi State inconclusive due to breaches of electoral laws that led to the cancellation of results in polling units within 20 of the state’s 21 local government areas (LGAs).
Before the declaration, the APC was leading the poll with 388,258 votes, as against 342,980 votes scored by the PDP.
Development Diaries urges citizens of these states to come out en masse to cast their votes against all odds.
We also call on INEC to ensure a free and fair conduct of the supplementary elections, while calling on security agencies to ensure adequate protection of voters, electoral observers and INEC officials.
