The International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition (IAAC) offers contestants the unique opportunity to show their knowledge and astronomy skills! Contestants can also win awards and cash prizes or become IAAC ambassadors in their country.

The IAAC is an online astronomy competition for students from all countries.

Benefits

The prizes and awards are worth a total of $700, which includes cash prizes of $450.

  • All participants, regardless of the results, will receive participation certificates to honour their efforts
  • The three best students will receive cash prizes of $200, $150 and $100 respectively, as well as special prize certificates
  • All finalists will receive Bronze Honour, Silver Honour or Gold Honour
  • All participants that use professional computer programmes (eg TeX) to write down their solutions to the qualification round and/or pre-final round receive a special honorary note on their certificates. This skill is important for the future career of any student

Eligibility

All students (high school or university) that are at least ten years old are allowed to participate. Students from all grades and all countries are invited to participate! However, there are two age categories: Junior (under 18 years by 15 May, 2020) and Youth (over 18 years by 15 May, 2020)
