The World Bank Group (WBG) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Global Director, Finance.
WBG, among other objectives, aims to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the global directors of other global practices, with the regional directors and with the Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC)
- Assist the VPU management team in setting FCI and EFI’s key strategic priorities to guide institution-wide work and in collaboration with country directors in establishing global and country goals to ensure alignment with the WBG strategy and country partnership framework
- Draw on thought leadership and implementation know-how within finance and across practices to ensure high impact evidence-based solutions
- Assist EFI management team to build and maintain a balanced portfolio of innovative, cost-effective and demand-driven products and services
- Implement quality control processes
- Model exemplary WBG leadership values and managerial behaviors and reinforce these qualities in the management team and staff
- Monitor compliance with talent management, diversity and inclusion plans
- Drive and inspire technical excellence within FCI by creating an environment of learning and innovation that attracts and develops the best talent reflective of the diversity of our clients.
Requirements
- Master’s or a PhD in Finance and typically the successful candidate will have 15 or more years of relevant experience in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility
- Demonstrated in-depth experience working across practice and disciplinary boundaries
- Track record of managing complex and large work programmes, budgets, portfolio monitoring and supervision, with proven results
- Proven ability to effectively implement complex change management initiatives
- Substantive experience working in client countries of different regions
- Familiarity with the full menu of WBG services (financial, analytical and advisory, and convening services)
- Knowledge of and experience with WB operational business and IFC advisory services
