The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Senior Advisor (Climate Action).
The mission of UNOPS is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure, and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships for the team with coal phase-out civil society and analytic partners to ensure ongoing collaboration and up-to-date analytics
- Support the engagement with member states in furtherance of the coal phase-out and related just transition strategies
- Support development of NDC enhancement and long-term decarbonisation by 2050
- Support coordination on all of the above with the COP 26 presidency team and the UNFCCC climate champions team
- Develop regional group engagement strategies for NDC and Net Zero commitments in collaboration with the action team
- Prepare briefing notes, key messages and analytic products for SG and DSG engagement with member states
Requirements
- Master’s degree, preferably in International Relations or Climate Change/Science or other relevant fields
- Two years, minimum, of relevant work experience with a relevant first degree may be accepted in lieu of the master’s degree requirement
- Ten years of relevant professional experience
- Experience working with high-level government officials
- Fluency in English (written and oral)
