United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the country office and national partners use a well-prioritised and realistic plan of research, monitoring and evaluation activities that will provide the most relevant and strategic information to manage the country programme, including tracking and assessing UNICEF’s distinct contribution
  • Provide support to the country office and national partners to have timely and accurate measurement of change in conditions in the country or region, including monitoring of socio-economic trends and the country wider policy, economic or institutional context
  • Make sure the country office has quality information to assess progress towards expected results established in annual workplans
  • Ensure UNICEF-supported evaluations are designed and implemented to establish UN quality standards, and the results are disseminated in a timely fashion to stakeholders in order to improve programme performance and contribute to wider learning
  • Provide support to chief PME to ensure that monitoring and evaluation capacities of country office staff and national partners, government and civil society are strengthened, enabling them to increasingly engage in and lead monitoring and evaluation processes

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, or Planning Development
  • Professional work experience in programme development and implementation, including monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Five years, minimum, of relevant professional work experience and developing country work experience (for IP) or field work experience (for NO)
  • At least one instance of exposure to emergency programming, including preparedness planning and active involvement in a humanitarian crisis response programme preferred
  • Fluency in French and good knowledge of English
  • Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered an asset
