United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Child Protection Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, design and updating of the situation analysis for the child protection programmes/projects to ensure current and comprehensive data on child protection issues is available to guide UNICEF’s strategic policy advocacy, intervention and development efforts on child rights and protection, and to set programme priorities, strategies, and design and implementation plans
  • Keep abreast of development trends to enhance programme management, efficiency and delivery
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercise, programme reviews and annual reviews with the government and other counterparts to assess progress and to determine required actions and interventions to achieve results
  • Prepare and assess monitoring and evaluation reports to identify gaps, strengths and/or weaknesses in programme management
  • Identify lessons learnt and use knowledge gained for development planning and timely intervention to achieve goals

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in International Development, Human Rights, Psychology, Sociology, International Law, or a related field
  • First university degree may be accepted with two years of relevant professional experience
  • Five years, minimum, of professional experience in social development planning and child protection management
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Strong capacity to produce high quality written work
  • Knowledge of existing global innovations in the area of child protection
  • Good familiarity with ITC tools
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered an asset
  • Relevant experience in child protection programme development in a UN agency or organisation is considered as asset
  • Knowledge of the local language of the duty station (highly desirable)

Fluency in French and English
