The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Management Officer.

Responsibilities
- Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc
- Monitor and analyse programme/project development and implementation and review relevant documents and reports
- Identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions
- Coordinate and facilitate the work of scientific and technical bodies of the conventions and organise, prepare, or supervise the development of, scientific papers, reports and analyses
- Coordinate and participate in the organisation of meetings of the conference of the parties (COPs), their subsidiary bodies and other meetings
- Provide substantive input through the preparation of documents, presentations and other activities
- Coordinate intersessional work of the COPs and their subsidiary bodies, including following up on decisions and related actions
- Perform consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change
- Research, analyse and present information gathered from diverse sources
- Assist in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of impact evaluation or equivalent studies, etc
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Physical or Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Public Policy, Business or Administration, or a related field
- First university degree combined with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
- Five years, minimum, of progressively responsible experience in environmental sciences, chemical safety, waste management, or a related area
- Experience working on the chemical and waste multilateral environmental agreements is desirable
- Experience working in an international setting is desirable
- Experience working with national partners and liaising with government officials is desirable
- Fluency in written and oral English
- Working knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
