Apply: UN-TRF Journalism Fellowship

The United Nations, in partnership with the Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF), has opened applications for journalism fellowship.

The programme is designed to help selected journalists improve their reporting abilities so that people in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are aware of global decisions being made on their behalf, can connect multilateral processes to their own lives, and can hold decision makers accountable.

Benefits

  • Participate in a regional online training programme
  • Travel to Doha, Qatar, and participate in the LDC5 conference
  • Attend a two-day in-person workshop with TRF trainers at LDC5
  • For the length of LDC5, participants will be guided by TRF trainers
  • One excellent fellow will be chosen for a fully-funded fellowship at the Reuters Institute for the study of journalism at Oxford University in the autumn of 2022
  • The United Nations will cover travel and accommodation expenses

Eligibility

  • Open to journalists with a minimum of five years of experience and a good level of spoken and written French or English
  • Applicants must be reporting in any of the 46 LDCs
  • Applicants must have a passport for international travel valid until January 2023 (at least)
  • Applications must include proof that the applicant is working for local media and publishing for local audiences
  • In the case of freelance journalists, proof of regular publication by a recognised local media is required
  • The UN-OHRLLS reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all applicants
