Deadline: 17 August, 2020
UN-Habitat is now receiving proposals from not-for-profit organisations and governmental institutions for the establishment of water facilities in Dandora dumpsite, Nairobi, Kenya.
Applicants are to assess the risks faced by waste pickers in the Dandora site, particularly in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, and develop and implement a comprehensive proposal to mitigate these risks.
Such mitigation actions will include raising awareness of the hazards amongst the waste pickers and the wider community; awareness-raising and education on safe practices as well as the provision of adequate water supply facilities to ensure regular handwashing as well as the proper use of PPEs.
Initial assessments by UN-Habitat indicate that five such handwashing facilities will be needed at the Dandora Dump Site.
