Save the Children International (SCI) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Regional Area Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the regional staff and teams
  • Promote the development of an organisational culture that reflects SCI’s dual mandate and values, accountability and high performance, encourages a team culture of learning, creativity and innovation, and delivers outstanding results for children and excellent external engagements and relationships with SCI members and donors
  • Support in the design and implementation of a coherent organisational structure that delivers programme operations in the field
  • Establish, maintain, and improve active and regular working relationships with government authorities, donors, partner agencies including major institutional donors, and local and international NGOs in the region of operation
  • Responsible for the management and coordination of all humanitarian programme operations and delegated responsibility for regional programme operations delivery of high quality programmes in line with the objectives of the country strategy
  • In close coordination with the Director of Programme Operations and Technical Advisors, participate/support resource acquisition processes, including development of project/grant proposals
  • Manage humanitarian programmes operations and projects in accordance with grant agreements, timelines and approved budgets

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree, minimum, in any relevant field. Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • Eight years, minimum, of progressive experience in programme implementation with five years, minimum, in a middle management position in an NGO
  • Strong financial, planning and budget management skills and experience
  • Experience of working with local partners and local governments
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation and beneficiary accountability systems
  • Experience of managing supply chain, logistics and security operations
  • Experience of working in insecure environments
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity
