Population Services International (PSI) is seeking to fill the position of Malaria Technical Director.

PSI is a global health network dedicated to improving the health of people in the developing world by addressing serious challenges like a lack of family planning, HIV and AIDS, barriers to maternal health, and the greatest threats to children under five, including malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia, and malnutrition.

Responsibilities

  • Develop departmental/functional strategic priorities in collaboration with PSI Angola
  • Develop and oversee work plans and budgets to execute strategic priorities
  • Monitor deliverables, progress, and correlate course when necessary
  • Drive the utilisation of evidence-based tools, innovations, and best practices to improve the department/function’s performance
  • Provide strategic technical direction to malaria programme by coordinating the development of the technical aspects of the programme implementation approaches and ensuring appropriate consultations with stakeholders at all levels
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with external stakeholders and partners
  • Ensure effective collaboration between stakeholders and partners
  • Represent PSI Angola at internal and external meetings, conferences, and donor meetings
  • Pursue and develop responses to new business opportunities
  • Support capacity building of PSI Angola or global project staff and partners engaged in activities related to area of expertise
  • Carry out other related tasks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in a related field
  • Master’s degree (or international equivalent) in a related field (preferred)
  • Ten years, minimum, of related experience
  • Equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted
  • Three years, minimum, of supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant departmental/functional area
  • Excellent leadership, employee development and management skills
  • Excellent customer service, relationship building/management and consensus-building skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities, diagnose problems and develop client-centred and evidence-based solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Portuguese and/or Spanish language skills (preferred)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
