Plan International is seeking to fill the role of Social and Behaviour Change Officer.

Responsibilities
- Participate in a comprehensive analysis of the situation of Social Change and Behaviour of social, communication, cultural, economic and political issues in Cabo Delgado
- Collect, synthesise, write and/or organise related materials and documentation for evidence-based S and BC strategies and plans to ensure the best impact, scale and sustainability of outputs/results
- Monitor and assess the impact of S&BC strategies and activities to achieve measurable behavioural and social changes that result in the improvement of children’s rights and well-being
- Collaborate and/or consult with internal and external partners to provide operational and technical support for research, development and production of evidence-based strategies, to test, produce and use quality MSC materials, organise events and activities to ensure community involvement and participation, as well as maximum reach and impact on behavioural and social change
- Adopt and adapt social behaviour change to be used with adolescent boys and girls, parent groups and the wider community
- Support the evaluation of the implementation of case management for unaccompanied, separate and other vulnerable children and preliminary recommendations for an improved programme design
- Prepare reports on case management of unaccompanied, separated and other vulnerable children as required /requested by the Child Protection Officer in emergencies
- Provide training to team members and community volunteers on how to convey messages of social behaviour change
- Collaborate with internal communication partners to harmonise, link and/or coordinate messages to improve MSC’s reach and contribution to programmatic outcomes
Requirements
- University degree in social and behavioural sciences, anthropology, psychology, education, communication, relations or other relevant technical domain
- Excellent communication skills with children of different age groups and adults (employees and community members)
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas: planning social development programmes, communication for development, public advocacy, or another related area
- Fluency in Portuguese and the local languages spoken in Cabo Delgado (English will be an added advantage)
- Ability to work in difficult and high-risk situations
- Ability to handle and work under pressure
- Experience working with humanitarian agencies
- Availability to defend, protect and promote the well-being and rights of children
- Passion for children, especially working with vulnerable children
- Attitude that accepts differences (different ethnicities, cultures, attitudes, and views)
