Plan International is seeking to fill the role of Emergency Response Manager.

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of the northern Mozambique displacement response in Nampula and Cabo Delgado, ensuring response activities are in line with Plan International’s standard policies and procedures
  • Lead on the development and regular update of the northern Mozambique emergency response plan, clearly defining key priorities in line with Plan International’s expertise
  • Lead and manage rapid needs assessments in the northern displacement, ensuring a clear focus on the specific needs of children and particularly girls
  • Support the selection of local partner organisations, ensuring alignment with Plan International’s approach and programming priorities in humanitarian crises
  • Support programme technical specialists to ensure programmes are of high quality and have direct positive impact on children affected by crises
  • Ensure appropriate programme quality standards are used in the design and implementation of programmes, particularly SPHERE and its companion guides
  • Overall responsibility for preparation of quality reports and updates on the northern displacement for different Plan International entities and external actors such as donors, UN

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management, Humanitarian Studies, International Development, International Relations, Social Studies, or a similar field
  • Ten years of relevant experience in the NGO sector or equivalent
  • Experience of key practice and standards for humanitarian response such as SPHERE and CHS
  • Seven years, minimum, in managing humanitarian and resilience programmes in the INGO sector
  • Proven experience in managing complex teams, including staff management and development
  • Ability to manage a large team
  • Ability to communicate effectively and authoritatively on area of expertise, and influence others to reach common goals
  • Experience and ability to coordinate and collaborate with different organisations and government, and experience in programme development
  • Track record of proposal writing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English
