Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager.
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
Responsibilities
- Ensure seamless team management and development, programme delivery, quality control, monitoring and evaluation
- Develop and implement strategies that will maximise the collaborations among the team in line with the global strategy and donor requirements and ensure satisfactory completion of programme objectives
- Participate in the monthly project coordination meeting led by the business development manager/head of programmes implementation (HoPI)
- With the business development manager, develop the quarterly financial forecasts
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly work plans and progress reports detailing tasks (including monitoring plans)
- Submit monthly project updates to the HoPI using the appropriate template
- Perform monthly expenditures analysis of all activities with the support of the grants accountant
- Ensure, in compliance with donor requirements, effective budget monitoring and management
- Ensure Donor asset register is updated on a quarterly basis and copies placed in the project files
- Ensure proper filing of all project documents
- Support the preparation of the Plan International Sierra Leone quarterly report
- Develop and maintain good professional relations with traditional and government bodies at the district/chiefdom level so as to contribute to influencing girls’ rights policies across the different levels of engagement
- Ensure gender is mainstreamed into all section development-related programme activities in the district/chiefdom and maintain gender sensitivity towards staff and the organisation’s associates
- Ensure child protection is mainstreamed into all community development-related programme activities in the district/chiefdom to meet Plan International’s goals
- Ensure CCCD is embedded in project activities in the district/chiefdom to meet the organisation’s goals
- Participate in and support Plan International’s local partner implementation of activities
- Assist in designing training tools for partner training and arrange for refresher training for partners and staff, where necessary
- Promote mutual learning and the sharing of ideas, information, and experience on child protection and SRHR among team members
- Carry out capacity gap analysis and assessments that reflect real needs for project staff (Plan International and partners) and coordinate training sessions based on gaps identified to build their capacities on quality programming
- Facilitate the involvement and contribution of stakeholders at all levels in the process of refining and improving project implementation within the districts
- Strengthen connection to aid information exchange within the organisation while utilising the knowledge management base resources
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent practical experience in interdisciplinary areas within human rights, social sciences, international development, and programme leadership
- Five years, minimum, of demonstrable experience in a managerial role, preferably social development
- Strong leadership skills
- Good communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to undertake strategic and programme planning
- Strong understanding of gender equality programming and meaningful child participation
- Knowledge of development challenges and contexts in Sierra Leone, particularly child rights, girls’ rights, and child protection
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and supportively without the need for close supervision
- Computer skills and ability to use relevant software and other applications
