Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Child Protection in Emergency Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and submit a work plan for the employment period to the Guji field office
  • Develop a detailed implementation plan and terms of reference for each agreed activity in line with the available budget and planned targets and facilitate timely implementation
  • Conduct track records of project progress/status with a clear project follow-up checklist periodically
  • Provide technical and management support for the implementation, monitoring and reporting of child protection in emergency programmes
  • Based on needs assessment, support and facilitate capacity building of social workers and front line workers on violence, referral pathways, case management, community-based child protection systems, community mobilisation, integration of child protection into other programmes (multi-sectoral programming);  and psychosocial support as per capacity building plans
  • Provide technical support to stakeholders including the Women and Children Affairs Office in the implementation of an emergency child protection response plan
  • Take part in district-based coordination/task force, or network meetings and share update reports with the field office
  • Prepare and submit periodic project reports (monthly, quarterly and end line) as per standard template and agreed time frame
  • Provide regular updates to the CPiE and GBV coordinator and field emergency response coordinator on progress, priorities and constraints
  • Deliver reports on the case management for unaccompanied and separated children and other vulnerable children as necessary/requested by the child protection in emergencies and GBV coordinator
  • Understand and put into practice the responsibilities under safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s code of conduct (CoC)
  • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for safeguarding children and young people and gender equality and inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work
  • Ensure that Plan International Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Law, Political Science, International Relations, Community Development or a related field
  • Strong three years of experience in the child protection sector and technical understanding of CP data management, policies, conventions
  • Experience working with vulnerable children, including children outside of parental care
  • Experience in designing and facilitating training and capacity building on child protection, counselling and/or case management technical areas with a variety of audiences
  • Experience in community mobilisation and conducting outreach activities
