Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking to fill the position of an Emergency Programme Manager.
Founded in 1971, MSF is an international medical humanitarian organisation that provides emergency medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from health care.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical support to field teams
- Ensure appropriate procurement, monitoring and management of medical supplies
- Provide technical monitoring of projects through periodic medical/technical reports and/or field visits
- Support field teams in dealing with methodological issues
- Analyse epidemiological data
- Ensure that medical teams receive basic technical and methodological information during briefings and participate in staff debriefings
- Decide, in collaboration with the Deputy Medical Director and the Medical Department or the person designated by the latter, on the operational research to be conducted
- Participate in HR processes and training
- Contribute to the Emergency Cell
- Participate in MSF international Emergency Cell meetings opened to Medicals
- Promote and participate in international working groups relating to emergencies at the request of the Deputy Medical Director
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with counterparts in other OCs
Requirements
- Healthcare professional (preferably a physician) with basic knowledge of epidemiology and epidemic research
- One year, minimum of experience in a nutritional intervention and emergency vaccination
- Two years, minimum, of MSF professional experience in emergency projects (response to epidemics, displaced persons, malnutrition)
- Experience as an emergency coordinator or medical coordinator
- PSP training considered an asset
- Experience in field coordination an asset
- Working proficiency in English and French
- MS Office suite (mainly MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
