I Tatti has opened applications for its Marlène and Paolo Fresco Fellowship.
The Marlène and Paolo Fresco Fellowship is a six-month residential fellowship for the spring term of 2027 (January to June), which seeks to stimulate and support increased scholarship on cultural exchanges between the African continent and the Mediterranean world.
Benefits
- $5,200 grant per month
- One-time supplement (maximum $1,800) towards relocation expenses
- Spend a six-month term in Florence at I Tatti with access to local and regional resources, including libraries, photographic collections, archives, museums, and collections
- Full access to the Harvard Centre’s privileges, including the Biblioteca Berenson, open seven days a week, and enjoy weekday lunches with other appointees
- Access to a reserved workspace in the Biblioteca Berenson
Eligibility
- Scholars must have a PhD in hand
- Solid background in African history and its global exchanges in the early modern world
- Must be fluent in either English, Italian, or French
- Be able to carry out original research on the topic for which they have been awarded their fellowship
- All applications must be written in English or Italian
