Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Senior Accountant.

Established in 1997, KCDF is a public philanthropic foundation that supports sustainable community-driven development.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of donor financial reports in line with donor policies and guidelines
  • Review grantee financial reports and work to resolve reporting gaps in coordination with programme officers
  • Facilitate capacity enhancement of grantee partners to improve their financial management systems and reporting mechanisms
  • Support monitoring of grantee activities
  • Support in the facilitation of project audits
  • Review and track grantee balances and ensure proper close-out procedures
  • Review payment requests in line with organisational manuals, policies, and donor guidelines
  • Support in budget proposal development processes
  • Ensure payroll processing and payroll journal posting
  • Ensure timesheets for payroll charge are timely provided by staff as per donor guidelines
  • Provide support in the preparation for internal and external audit
  • Support the organisation in the implementation and tracking of its risk management framework
  • Support departmental heads in the review of their departmental risks and follow up on relevant mitigation measures
  • Obtain and collate feedback from donors and programmes on grant management and compliance issues with a view to improving grant management by identifying challenges, risks and lessons learnt
  • Attend the audit and risk committee meeting and make relevant presentations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or a related field
  • Full CPA qualification or equivalent
  • Five years, minimum, of work experience, with focus on financial and risk management
  • Eight years, minimum, of grant management experience in supporting implementation of donor-funded projects
  • Three years, minimum, of experience in a senior financial management role, managing staff and reporting to senior executives
  • Demonstrated understanding of grants management, experience in grant compliance processes and project management including developing budgets
  • Capacity to undertake staff and partners capacity building in financial and grants management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili
  • Experience using computer accounting packages, including Microsoft Office 365 and Excel
  • Risk management, payroll processing and tax compliance skills
  • Knowledge of community development issues will be an added advantage
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Team player and a self-driven individual
