The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking to fill the role of Health Officer.
IRC is a global humanitarian aid, relief, and development non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Responsibilities
- Ensure all sexual reproductive health (SRH) activities are coordinated, and implemented well as per the project proposal, workplan, and monitoring and evaluation plan
- Establish social and behavioural change communication approaches to make refugee communities aware of SRH
- Provide family planning education, counselling, and pill distribution services at IRC RH centre and trace the users on regular basis
- Promote and distribute male and female condoms through establishing distribution outlets and community workers
- Build a strong working relationship with the MCH department of ARRA health centre to improve clinical RH service uptake and its quality
- Plan and conduct community sensitisation campaigns on SRH
- Represent IRC at different meetings, workshops, task force meetings, etc
- Work with youth health club members and other IPs working on youths to promote family planning and condoms
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of FP clients and referrals in relevant client registers and ensure they are kept confidential
- Ensure RH interventions used as per the standard protocols, policies, and guidance prescribed by the MoH and WHO
- Conduct workshops, training, and presentations on adolescent and youth SRH to different community workers, volunteers, and implementing partners’ staff
- Attend monthly health and nutrition coordination meetings and other relevant meetings facilitated by implementing partners at the camp level
- Follow IRC safety and security procedures and provide input to security monitoring and assessments to enable and promote a safe and secure environment for programme implementation
- Stay up-to-date on health-related humanitarian situations in the country specifically on SRH, post-abortion, and safe abortion care
Requirements
- Two years, minimum, of significant experience with a first degree or five years of experience for diploma holders and one year of relevant experience for a postgraduate degree in Comprehensive Nursing/ Reproductive Health (RH)/General Public Health with
- NGO experience on SRH will be a plus
- Knowledge of family planning and RH updates in refugee settings
- Basic managerial and supervisory skills
- Excellent technical and report writing skills
- Excellent MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, and Word) skills
