Interpeace is seeking to fill the role of Communication Intern.

Interpeace is an international peacebuilding organisation that builds the capacity of societies to manage conflicts on their own in a sustainable and non-violent manner.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the visibility of the regional programme through social media and more particularly, the website of Interpeace
  • Participate in the collection and writing of success stories to highlight the impact of Interpeace support on beneficiary populations (youth of the Great Lakes)
  • Produce a global information bulletin on projects funded by the European Union
  • Accompany young innovators to document success stories and the visibility of their initiatives
  • Produce an analysis paper on the changes produced by the European Union-funded project on social cohesion, peacebuilding and the empowerment of young people in the region of the Great Lakes
  • Produce and share with the programme manager at the beginning of each week the weekly work plan for validation
  • Produce a weekly report of activities for validation by the programme manager
  • At the end of each field mission, produce a mission report and submit it for validation
  • Set up a plan to upgrade capacities and technical support of partners in the field of communication
  • Contribute to internal communication initiatives to ensure a constant exchange of information through the multi-country office
  • Ensure the creation of publications (in various formats) on the regional programme implemented by Interpeace and its partners
  • Create attractive videos and infographics for publications on social networks and the website
  • Feed the Nairobi-based regional communications manager with the information needed to update the Interpeace website
  • Contribute to the enrichment of the database of photos and videos of the regional programme
  • Participate as much as possible in youth initiatives and programme activities

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Audiovisual Production, Journalism, Media Studies, or professional equivalent
  • Good knowledge, analysis and context of national and regional issues in terms of peacebuilding and security with a proven ability to work with a diverse and multicultural team
  • Ability to analyse and present information clearly
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with diverse teams
  • Understanding of media and public relations
  • Ability to support many projects and to understand and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong computer skills, including proven habit and experience in social media content development, planning and internet management
  • Commitment to learning constantly in the face of new developments, proactivity for professional and personal progression, willingness to learn around oneself and search for reactions to improve
