The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager.
The mission of the ILO is to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain strong working relations with governments, employers and workers and other relevant actors in the socio-economic field in the countries of the southern neighbourhood region and foster their ownership of project processes and results
- Provide technical, programming, administrative and financial management of the development cooperation project in compliance with the requirements of the donor, ILO internal procedures and results-based management framework
- Design the project implementation plan and monitoring and evaluation plan and ensure their approval in cooperation with ILO constituents, concerned ILO country and regional offices and programming units, and backstopping specialists
- Supervise and provide technical inputs in the reports and documents related to social dialogue, transitions to formality and skills and lifelong learning produced by the project
- Support the establishment and functioning of tripartite working groups on formalisation and on skills at national level in each of the target countries/territory to support project activities and validate results, as well as project advisory committees in each target country/territory
- Facilitate capacity building of tripartite constituents at the national and regional levels to strengthen social dialogue on transitions to formality and skills development, including gender responsive national formalisation strategy, upgrading of informal apprenticeships and recognition of prior learning, and contribute to sustainability of project results
Requirements
- Degree in Economics or Social Sciences with demonstrated expertise in the relevant technical fields
- Eight years, minimum, of relevant experience in international development cooperation, and three years, minimum, of experience in the areas of informality/transition to formality, social dialogue, skills development or policy development
- Experience in delivering development cooperation within a UN organisation and, ideally, the ILO, will be a particular asset
- Work experience in North Africa and/or the Middle East (essential)
- Excellent command of either English or French
- Good command of Arabic is a plus
