The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has opened applications for the role of National Project Coordinator.
The mission of the ILO is to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues
Responsibilities
- Support the technical officer on sustainable enterprises in the timely implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the intervention under the Enterprise component, including provision of technical inputs in line with the ILO policy, rules and regulations and according to the final project document and work-plan
- Identify problems, propose solutions and carry out gender-responsive action follow-up in the area of sustainable enterprise development and informal economy to expedite implementation and meet targets
- Organise training programmes and events with innovative methodologies (webinar, online training, IT tools) to improve the capacity of micro enterprises and informal workers
- Ensure the delivery of quality technical inputs and outputs in the area of access to credit, occupational safety and health (OSH) and enterprise development with a particular focus on Covid-19 mitigation measures on informal economy enterprises and workers
- Maintain close cooperation and coordination with government, employers and workers organisations in the planning and implementation of activities under the project and with other ILO projects and development partners active in the area
- Establish and develop knowledge management system covering technical activities under the project, including other economic and social issues of relevance to the project
- Represent the ILO and the project in various activities and fora when requested, under the guidance of the CTA and ILO director
- Develop and maintain good relations with backstopping ILO specialists at the ILO Decent Work Team in Pretoria, other colleagues in the field and HQ on specific technical areas requiring comprehensive and collaborative interventions
Requirements
- University degree in Business Management, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Three years, minimum, of experience in the enterprise development area in project management, supervision, administration or implementation of development projects including grants to enterprises
- Experience in working with ILO, other UN agency or government agencies
- Experience in projects with an interface in gender responsive and/or public health will be an asset
- Knowledge of labour economics as well as economic developments, poverty reduction, and social policies
- Knowledge of the policy making process
- Knowledge about social, economic development, including labour and employment, trends in the country
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with all project stakeholders
- Ability to establish and maintain systems within project operations
- Ability to manage technical cooperation projects of international organisations
- Knowledge of English and good working knowledge of written and spoken Portuguese
