Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking to fill the position of Country Director.
DRC provides direct assistance to conflict-affected populations including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Responsibilities
- Stand for DRC during meetings with authorities, donors, partners, and in selected coordination forums
- Strengthen DRC’s position nationally and regionally
- Ensure DRC maintains excellent and productive relations with all key stakeholders, especially beneficiaries, local authorities, the humanitarian community and donors
- Ensure the senior management team (SMT) has clear and realistic performance-based management goals
- Take charge of overall management of the operation and direct manager for senior staff members
- Frequently travel to the field offices for direct operational support and representation
- Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements including procurement
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Political Science or Social Sciences, International Development, Economics, or a relevant field
- Eight years, minimum, of relevant work experience in emergency contexts for a humanitarian agency or similar
- Eight years, minimum, of experience in people management
- Proven leadership skills
- Proven experience in managing large and complex humanitarian operations
- Experience in financial and safety management
- Full professional proficiency in English
- Experience in representing a large and leading international organisation to donors, external partners and authorities
- Experience with networking, advocacy and coordination
- Work-related experience from the region/country
- Experience with managing Change
- Professional proficiency in French
