Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking to fill the role of Risk and Compliance Officer.

CRS’ relief and development work is accomplished through programmes of emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance and peacebuilding.

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with the senior compliance manager and CP leadership on strengthening internal control systems and processes
  • Undertake a review of alleged fraud, corruption, and other violations of policy with objectivity, impartiality, and fairness throughout the process and in accordance with CRS policies and guidelines
  • Help to identify risk issues and challenges that may affect effectiveness and efficiency of CRS operations and solutions to address them
  • Help to implement and advise on the sub-recipient financial management policy (SRFMP)
  • Support the planning and performance of internal audits, control reviews and compliance assessments, and conduct audit activities as applicable
  • Help to analyse results and provide recommendations
  • Support the design and facilitation of training and institutional capacity strengthening plans for CRS and partners
  • Support external audits and the coordination of action plans to close out audit findings

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field field
  • Three years, minimum, of work experience, ideally with an international organisation, with progressive responsibility in operations and/or programming
  • Two years, minimum, of experience in handling auditing, compliance, or risk management tasks
  • Knowledge of performance-based funding mechanism
  • Knowledge of audit standards and compliance regulations and familiarity with international standards for internal control and risk and compliance management
  • Fluency in written and spoken English language
  • Ability to speak and understand Hausa language is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 40 percent
  • Good relationship management skills
  • Good analytical, organisational, and systems thinking skills
  • Ability to make sound judgment
  • Ethical conduct in accordance with recognised professional and organisational codes of ethics
  • Proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented
  • Familiarity with accounting systems
  • Proficiency in using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and information management systems
