The Centre for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) has opened applications for the role of a Recruitment Officer.

CIVIC is an international non-governmental organisation working to improve protection for civilians caught in conflict.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process of employees, consultants, and interns for CIVIC’s field offices across the world
  • Write, review and finalise job descriptions on various platforms to attract qualified candidates in compliance with internal and donor policies and local law
  • Support hiring managers with all aspects of the recruitment process, including plan and attend interviews, collate and write candidate assessments, conduct background and sanctions checks and call references, and support with the finalisation of job offers
  • Coordinate and participate in interview debrief with hiring leads and panels
  • Act as the main point of contact for candidates and applicants
  • Explain the benefits, the organisation’s policies and parameters of the job to applicants
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations regarding employment
  • Onboard new hires and assist with orientation in coordination with operations and people and culture teams, tracking and ensuring completion of all onboarding tasks
  • Notify unsuccessful candidates and provide appropriate feedback
  • Assume responsibility for HR data integrity in CIVIC’s HR information system, BambooHR
  • Support the implementation of a hiring policy that aims to recruit a more diverse workforce in all CIVIC’s offices around the world
  • Track hiring metrics including time-to-hire, time-to-fill and source of hire
  • Design, distribute and measure the results of candidate experience surveys
  • Train, advise and coach hiring managers on interviewing techniques and assessment methods
  • Maintain a database of potential candidates for future job openings
  • Build and report on quarterly and annual hiring plans
  • Conduct research and review the final work product when CIVIC revises existing or develop new staff policies
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in recruitment and employment practices

Requirements

  • Two years, minimum, of work experience in Human Resources/people operations/recruitment of a non-profit humanitarian organisation
  • Prior experience working in an international and multicultural environment
  • A university degree or an appropriate combination of education and professional experience
  • Fluency in English, with fluency in French and/or Arabic highly valued
  • Proactive in problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An eye for detail, passionate about producing high-quality work
  • Experience using an integrated Human Resources Information System (HRIS) desired
  • Knowledge of sourcing techniques on social media and niche professional websites
  • Experience using major job sites like Indeed and LinkedIn
