Chemonics is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Country Director to support the USAID Global Health and Supply Chain Programme.

The mission of Chemonics is to promote meaningful change around the world to help people live healthier, more productive, and more independent lives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong and positive working relationships with clients and partners including USAID and local governments
  • Develop and implement workplans and budgets that reflect the priorities of USAID, the Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in the provision of assistance to build the capacity of national systems
  • Identify, develop, and maintain strategic alliances aimed at ensuring the programme works in close collaboration with other governments, U.S. government, and donor-supported supply chain programmes
  • Strategically identify capacity gaps and arrange appropriate training for field staff members
  • Ensure the use of appropriate management methodologies to plan, organise, and control resources to achieve goals
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for procurement and logistics services
  • Assess risks and implement risk management/mitigation strategies

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Public Health, Supply Chain or a management-related discipline
  • Ten years, minimum, of experience, preferably, in public health programme management, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies, and/or supply chain management systems
  • Ability to manage and implement complex USAID-funded public health programmes or projects in a developing country context
  • Ability to create efficiencies and lead operational transformation in large complex programmes, preferably, with experience in medical procurement, logistics, or supply chain management
  • Skills in leading and managing high-performing teams
  • Ability to work with cooperating partners in implementing complex programmes
  • Experience working in challenging, low-resource operating environments
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Diplomatic and public relations skills
  • Leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English
