The Forum for African Women Educationalists Zimbabwe Chapter (FAWEZI) says personal protection equipment (PPEs) and food packs have been donated to ten project schools in Shamva and Chitungwiza Districts in Zimbabwe.
The donations, Development Diaries gathered, were made by FAWEZI, in partnership with Action Aid Zimbabwe (AAZ), Leonard Cheshire Disability Zimbabwe (LCDZ) and Aids Counselling Trust (ACT).
It was learnt that the NGOs made the donations to match efforts in enhancing the level of preparedness for school reopening in line with Covid-19 prevention requirements.
The schools that benefited from the donations included Madziwa Mine, Wadzanai, and Shamva Ming Chang in Shamva, and Chaminuka, Tafadzwa, and Seke Mhuriiimwe in Chitungwiza.
The beneficiaries for food packs were 100 orphaned and vulnerable learners selected from the FAWEZI Tuseme club members at the schools under the project ‘Empowered Adolescents for Improved Quality of Life’.
In separate events under the same project, LCDZ and ACT led donations to 734 vulnerable households, caregivers, and people with chronic illnesses and child-headed families.
