The Guinness World Records (GWR) has confirmed that Nigeria’s Hilda Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has broken the record for the longest cooking marathon with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.
Development Diaries reports that the 26-year-old chef began on 11 May and continued through to 15 May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.
However, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.
‘After reviewing all the footage, we’re delighted to announce that Hilda Baci is the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual)’, GWR said in a tweet.

The previous record of 87 hours 45 minutes was set by Indian, Lata Tondon, in 2019.
Baci said she attempted this record to ‘put Nigerian cuisine on the map’.
She added, ‘I also decided to break this record to truly push my limits and test my abilities’.
Baci is not new to cooking competitions and making Nigeria proud as she won the first edition of the Jollof Face-off contest in 2021.
Her feat and the overwhelming support she got from Nigerians, especially on social media, say one thing: Nigerians can, indeed, be united in diversity.
