Sunshine Education Support Initiatives (SESI) has donated educational materials to 70 needy students within the Greater Banjul Area in The Gambia.
The gesture was part of the Nigeria-based organisation’s objective to support brilliant students that lack financial aid to continue their education.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of SESI The Gambia chapter and presentation of certificates to some individuals that have partnered with the organisation.
According to the World Bank, children in The Gambia achieve only 40 percent of their full potential. The situation is mainly due to the high level of poverty, leading to inadequate access to basic health and educational services.
‘I have been living in The Gambia for the past 19 years, and my aim is to leave a legacy before going back to Nigeria’, SESI President Sunny Nwachukwu said.
‘It is our collective responsibility to support the future generation of any country particularly the less-privileged children. The (70) beneficiary students are under our sponsorship’.
For his part, father of a beneficiary, Abdoul Aziz Bah, thanked SESI for supporting his school fees, as he advised students to be more serious and dedicated to their studies.
