The Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS), with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC), has commissioned 13 vehicles to aid its operations.
Receiving the vehicles, including five ambulances, GRCS President Jato Sillah said the outfit had struggled with only three vehicles.
He assured that the vehicles would surely and wholly be used for Red Cross services in the West African country.
Sillah also said that the Red Cross volunteers had been engaged in many activities, adding that they do not only respond when disasters occur but deal with the lives and livelihood of people.
‘All [The] Gambians should appreciate [the] work done by volunteers who use their resources to offer free services to the needy’, he said.
Programme Manager at GRCS, Abdoulie Fye, said despite all their interventions, they still have so much lot to accomplish.
