The Gambia: IOM Donates Plastic Buckets to Schools

International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in The Gambia has donated 350 new plastic buckets worth D303,176 to the country’s Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE).

Migrant Health Officer at the organisation, Dr Simeonette De Asis, who handed over the items to the ministry, said IOM was responding to the appeal made by the ministry for the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to schools.

Dr Asis assured the ministry of the organisation’s continued support especially when the need arises.

Deputy Permanent Secretary of Finance and Administration at MoBSE, Jerre Sanyang, thanked IOM for the kind gestures saying, ‘Your donation is timely and it will contribute a lot towards the hygiene and welfare of students.

‘No amount of gift is small under our eyes as a ministry and we value your efforts to the fullest’.

Sanyang stressed the need for The Gambians to appreciate what IOM was doing in the country especially in coming to the aid of key institutions.

He informed IOM officials that many organisations, groups of people, business entities, and others had generously offered their help to the ministry since the sector launched an appeal for PPEs in schools.
