The Gambia: HGCFP Builds Health Centre in Njongon

Helping Gambia Children Foundation Project (HGCFP), a Holland-based group, has inaugurated a health centre in Njongon village, Lower Niumi, The Gambia.

It was gathered that the health centre is equipped with scanners, ultra sound machines, hospital beds and wheel chairs.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Chairman of Njongon Village Development Committee, Sulayman Joof, said that the Dutch foundation had been very supportive of the village.

Joof said, ‘It was this foundation through the connection they have with one of our own, Abdoulie Bah, who decided to rebuild to a standard health centre. I want to say a very big thank you to Bah and the team’.

The head of TB Unit at Essau Health centre, Alieu Jassey, also expressed delight over this development.

He said, ‘What Abdoulie and his team did will go down in the village history. And it is a true reflection that charity begins at home’.

The coordinator of the foundation, who hails from the village, Bah, said that he was humbled to have contributed to bringing such a development to the village.

‘It has always been my desire to contribute my quota to the development of my village’, he said.

It was noted that the foundation has also bought school materials for the village nursery school to be renovated and also built a borehole in the school.
