The Gambia: EAF, Partners Wrap up Free Eye Surgery

Europe Aid Foundation (EAF), Cemiyetul Hayir Relief Organisation (CHRO) in The Gambia, and the National Eye Health Programme of the Ministry of Health have jointly concluded free cataract surgery at Brikama District Hospital, Bansang General Hospital, and Soma Regional Hospital in the West African country.

Development Diaries learnt that the move was purely done to help the vulnerable and needy persons at various communities in the country.

It was gathered that the team in Brikama carried out 60 surgeries – 30 surgeries were conducted at the Soma regional hospital, while the other 30 surgeries were carried out at the Bansang General Hospital.

A health worker, Lamin Njie, said that the EAF, a foundation based in the Netherlands, had before now provided relief items such as food for Ramadan, Tobaski, rams, and conducted cataract surgeries among others.

A beneficiary, Binta Saho, thanked the foundation for the support received from them, just as another beneficiary, Sulayman Jagne, applauded the foundation.
