The Association for the Support of Grassroots Communities, a local charity based in Kafuta, has donated more than 500 face masks to women, elders, and children in order to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in The Gambia.
Development Diaries gathered that as the number of cases were increasing in the country, the government put in place new measures, which included compulsory wearing of face masks in public places to curb the spread of the contagion.
The President of the Association for the Support of Grassroots Communities, Musa Kanteh, while presenting the items, said that the move was part of the organisation’s campaign to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the community.
He urged the people to use the masks as they go out daily and also adhere to safety caution to keep themselves safe from contracting the virus.
On his part, the Councillor of Kafuta Ward, Balla Musa Darboe, said that the distribution of face masks among people in the community would greatly help in the fight against the virus in the country.
He used the avenue to appeal to other donors and philanthropists to aid the village health centre.
