Supreme Court Rulings: Fubara, Aliyu, Kefas Must Now Focus on Promises

Now that the Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld the elections of the governors of Rivers, Taraba, and Sokoto states, it is time for the governors to focus on fulfilling their campaign promises to the people.

Development Diaries reports that the Supreme Court recently upheld the elections of Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.

Securing victory at the Supreme Court is a monumental achievement, signifying not just personal success but also a mandate from the people to lead and govern effectively.

As newly affirmed governors, there are crucial steps to be taken to enhance governance in their various states.

The governors must prioritise economic growth by implementing policies that attract investments, support local businesses, and create job opportunities.

They must also launch comprehensive infrastructure projects to improve transportation, health care, education, and other essential services.

Additionally, the governors must prioritise the safety and security of their citizens by developing and implementing strategies to combat crime, insurgency, and other security challenges, creating an environment conducive to social and economic development.

The governor of Taraba State, Kefas, promised that primary and post-primary education would be made free and compulsory to lay a year-long academic foundation that would place Taraba among contending states in the global standard of education to attract a technology-driving economy.

He must strengthen the education system by investing in schools, providing quality training for teachers, and updating the curriculum to meet the demands of the modern world.

On his part, the Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu, promised to vigorously pursue his nine-point agenda, which was to improve and modernise the state health care, education, local government autonomy, social development, security, and infrastructure, among others.

The Rivers State governor, on the other hand, promised to prioritise the welfare of citizens through responsive, caring and inclusive governance.

The governors must note that the success of their tenures will not only be measured by the policies they implement but also by the impact they have on the lives of the people they govern.

As governors Fubara, Aliyu and Kefas focus on the business of governance, Development Diaries calls on them to ensure they pull out all the stops to fulfil their promises to the people.
