Submit: UNDP ACP-EU Minerals Programme Proposals

Deadline: 20 August, 2021

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a call for proposals for the phase two of the African Caribbean Pacific (ACP)-European Union (EU) Development Minerals Programme in Uganda.

With the title, Scaling up inclusive business models in support of the Development Minerals
sector in Uganda, the ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme, which is financed by the EU and the UNDP, is capacity building project that aims to build the profile and improve the management of development minerals.

Whereas the sector is dominated by small and medium-scale enterprises, there is limited value chain optimisation which in turn makes the earnings accruing to the enterprises dismal, thus affecting real livelihood outcomes for the miners and their communities.

Also, within the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and its implications for SMEs, there is urgent need to bolster the development minerals sector through increasing access to financing, digitisation, gender inclusivity and value addition.
