South Africa: TJMF Distributes Food Vouchers

The Teboho James Maleke Foundation (TJMF) is assisting families in Hammanskraal, South Africa, with food vouchers during the national lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19. TJMF was founded in 2018 with the aim of improving the lives of school children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since schools are closed, TJMF decided to change its priority by feeding families in disadvantaged communities.

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought home the dire need for food relief across the country and numerous non-profit organisations have taken up the call to assist the poorest communities. Since TJMF does not have a permit to distribute food, they are distributing food vouchers to achieve their goal of feeding less privileged families.

While TJMF has identified 10 families who urgently need their food voucher donations, it was observed that at least another 20 families in the community were also in dire need of assistance. TJMF has therefore appealed to donors to help fund food vouchers for the other 20 families.
