In response to the recent cholera outbreak in Nigeria that has claimed 30 lives, coordinated action is essential to contain the spread of the disease and prevent further fatalities. The Federal Ministry of Health, their state equivalents, the NCDC, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) needs to strengthen health care systems and make them able to manage the current outbreak and also mitigate the risk of future occurrences. Zimbabwe: Arrest of Opposition Activists Widens Trust Gap

The arrest and continued arbitrary detention of 77 opposition members by Zimbabwean authorities is a violation of human rights and can widen the trust gap between citizens and the government. The Zimbabwean government must ensure the release of these opposition members and drop all charges against them. Also, the government must uphold Zimbabwe’s constitutional and international human rights obligations, including the rights to peaceful assembly, liberty and freedom from torture and other ill-treatment. Egypt: Protect Rights of Refugees

Egypt‘s mass arbitrary arrests and unlawful deportations of Sudanese refugees represent a grave violation of international human rights and refugee protection norms.
