Participate: AU AfCFTA Innovation Challenge

African Union has announced a call for participation in the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Innovation Challenge.

The aim of this challenge is to identify and disseminate innovative ideas, solutions and actions which will maximise the benefits of the AfCFTA, especially for women and youth.

In addition, the challenge aims to enhance capacity of young Africans for policy development and implementation and to integrate young Africans into AfCFTA policy making processes.

Benefits

  • Development of an AfCFTA implementation plan for a country or regional economic community, with mentorship from leading trade experts, industry captains, trade negotiators
  • Masterclass on ‘maximising opportunities in the AfCFTA’
  • Online publication and presentation of the AfCFTA Implementation Plan

Eligibility

  • Nationality of one of the 55 member states of AU
  • Open to entrants between the ages of 15 and 35 (women strongly encouraged to participate in the challenge)
  • Entrants must be engaged in policy/trade development or interested in building experience in policy/trade development
