#EndBadGovernance: Legal noose tightens on Borno minors despite Tinubu’s reprieve – The Guardian

While minors detained in Abuja for alleged crimes during the #EndBadGovernance protests may have begun heaving a sigh of relief, their counterparts in Borno yesterday commenced a journey into legal labyrinths.

This happened as the police in Maiduguri, the state capital, charged 19 additional suspects and three minors for their roles in the protests.

We call on the Borno State Police Command to respect human rights and follow due process in handling cases related to the #EndBadGovernance protests, especially those involving minors.

We also call on the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi to heed to President Bola Tinubu’s instruction to facilitate the release of all minors arrested and facing prosecution for their alleged involvement in the protests.

Hardship: Protest in Abuja over fuel crisis, inflation – Vanguard

Scores of Nigerians gathered in Abuja on Monday, launching a large-scale protest over escalating fuel costs, chronic fuel shortages, and mounting economic hardship.

Led by Abdullahi Bilal of the (Two Million Man March Against Oil Scam Cabal) and Barrister Napoleon Otache and Olayemi Isaac from Citizens and Economic Freedom Rights Activists in Nigeria (CEFRAN), the demonstrators demanded immediate action to address what they described as failed leadership in managing the country’s oil sector.

President Bola Tinubu, it is vital that your administration takes swift and decisive action to address the dire economic challenges facing Nigerians, especially the relentless fuel crisis, inflation, and their impact on everyday life. The recent protests in Abuja underscore the urgency for transparent and effective reforms in the oil sector and economic policies that prioritise the well-being of the citizens. We call on your leadership to demonstrate accountability, foster sustainable solutions, and prioritise the needs of the people to rebuild trust and create a path toward economic stability and growth.
