The security sector took the lion’s share with N4.91 trillion in the budget estimates.

The allocation of N4.91 trillion to the security sector in the 2025 budget underscores the critical need for safeguarding Nigeria’s stability; however, it is imperative for the National Assembly to ensure transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes in the disbursement and utilisation of these funds. Citizens must also actively engage in monitoring the implementation of the budget to hold stakeholders accountable.

NERC releases new tariff, asks DisCos to downgrade customers – The Guardian

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has released a new tariff, maintaining the Band A end-user bill at N209/KWh, the same rate as in July when the commission last implemented a change.

The commission has also directed most Distribution Companies (DisCos) to downgrade certain feeders due to their inability to meet the promised hours of electricity supply for Band A.

We urge DisCos to prioritise compliance by reassessing their capacity and ensuring accurate classification of customers based on service delivery. It is essential to uphold transparency and fairness in the electricity distribution process, as this will foster trust and enhance service quality for end-users.
