Save the Children Nigeria (SCN) has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) worth N2.49 million to the Kaduna State government to support the state’s response to Covid-19.
As of 24 September, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had recorded 2,384 cases of Covid-19 in the northwestern state.
Development Diaries gathered that Team Leader of SCN in the state, Tanko Mohammed, during the presentation of the items to the state government, said that the donation was in line with SCN’s efforts to curb the spread of the virus.
He said, ‘We all know that Covid-19 has become a global issue which has impacted greatly on all spheres of human endeavour.
‘Countries across the globe are struggling to curb the pandemic and Nigeria is not left behind.
‘With this support, the curve will be flattening to zero, and from what we are seeing there is a great improvement in the number of people who are infected in Kaduna State’.
Maintaining that Kaduna is one of the worst-hit states in Nigeria’s northwest region, Mohammed applauded the state government for its efforts in managing the crisis.
‘I am happy that every arm of the government is working to reduce the spread of the disease’, he said.
‘Save the Children wishes to express its gratitude to the government for extending its hands of partnership to the children and other partners in the state for the development of the state’.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office of the Secretary to the State government, Muhammad Umar, noted that the government was committed to intensifying its efforts in mitigating the spread of the virus.
