Nigeria: NB Donates Medical Equipment to UI

The Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc through the Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund (FOETF) has donated medical training equipment worth ₦42 million to the College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan (UI) in support of the development of the medical field in Nigeria.

The Fund’s Managing Director, Jordi Borrut Bel, who was present to hand over the equipment to the college commended the dedication and standard shown by the college, prompting the continued support of the fund with over ₦90 million committed to various projects in the college since 2015.

Bel said, ‘Since the birth of civilisation, the medical profession has remained one of the noblest and respected professions in the world. Today, more than ever before, medical personnel are playing a central role in the battle to protect our world from some of the worst viruses we have ever seen. We, therefore, have a collective duty to prepare the next generation of doctors for the future in the best possible way. This is why we remain committed to supporting the College of Medicine, [UI], and other educational institutions in providing quality healthcare across Nigeria’.

The Provost of the college, Prof Olapade Olaopa, received the equipment on behalf of the college, commending NB and FOETF for their continuous support, adding that the equipment will greatly benefit the students and encourage optimal impact across the institution.

Olaopa remarked, ‘We are extremely delighted with the donation of this equipment. This would go a long way at providing our students with the necessary training or capacity to perform optimally in the medical profession’.
