Nigeria: Lions Club Set to Begin E-Library Project

The Canaan City Lions Club is set to begin the construction of e-library in Cross River State, Nigeria, following the handover of the site for the project to the club by the state government.

Development Diaries gathered that Governor Ben Ayade, who was represented by his Commissioner for Quality Education, Godwin Amanke, at the handover ceremony, said that the facility would be conducive for children to study as it will be equipped with an internet connection to help users easily access information.

He also noted that the project was key to the government as he said, ‘We will not joke with it. All the way in the project, we are with you, not just supporting, but collaborating with you to ensure that there are no encumbrances to the realisation of the project.

‘On behalf of the people of Cross River, particularly the children for whom the project is intended, I congratulate the Canaan City Lions Club (CCLC) on the project and its other plans for the state’.

The Club President, Nnaemeka Ohaeri, said that the humanitarian organisation had over the years been identifying and completing projects that met societal needs.

Ohaeri said, ‘This year, the e-library project has been taken up and it is my belief that with the support of the governor and the ministry of quality education, the project will be completed in no time’.
