Nigeria: FATE Foundation to Support Startups

FATE Foundation, an organisation with the goal of enabling aspiring and emerging Nigerian entrepreneurs start, grow, and scale their businesses while facilitating the development of an enabling business environment and thriving ecosystem, has announced its partnership with Facebook to support 360 startups across 11 states in Nigeria through the Aspiring Entrepreneurs: Digital Programme (AEP Digital).

The programme which was co-created by FATE Foundation and Facebook in 2018 combines enterprise management, financial literacy, and digital marketing courses to provide fundamental knowledge on building digitally enabled businesses.

With the current Covid-19 crisis forcing businesses to shut their doors, limiting movement and in-person interactions across Nigeria, FATE Foundation and Facebook have both recognised the need to support startups and businesses with the knowledge they need to sustain operations, thereby generating revenue while also creating jobs.

This year’s programme catalogue will focus on having a competitive advantage and resilience in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The programme’s modules will address business model adaptation, digital marketing, customer engagement, financial literacy and cashflow management, and remote work management.

The programme will be free to all 360 selected entrepreneurs and will be entirely virtual. It will also provide internet support, ad credit giveaways, and growth support services to the participants.

The programme will cover 12 cohorts with 30 entrepreneurs per stream from Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Edo, Kwara, Ogun, Abia, Kano, Oyo, and Plateau States.
