Concerned Professionals’ Congress (CPC) has commended troops tied to Operation Lafiya Dole for maintaining its dominance of Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria’s northeast.
The group made the commendation in a statement issued by its Chief Media Strategist, Emeka Nwankpa.
Development Diaries understands that with more than 37,500 people reportedly killed since 2011 and 2.5 million people displaced in the Lake Chad Basin, the Boko Haram insurgency remains one of humanity’s biggest humanitarian crisis.
According to CPC’s recent investigations into the state of the military-led counter-terrorism operation in the region, troops are dominating the terrorists in the region.
The group urged Nigerians to disregard reports suggesting the dominance of the terrorist group in the region, adding that such reports are ‘baseless, unfounded and misleading’.
‘Permit me to correct some wrong notions that have been peddled by ignorant and/or mischievous commentators about Boko Haram’s so-called control of parts of Borno State, which arose as a result of a few isolated sporadic terrorist attacks recently’, Nwankpa said.
‘It is cheap propaganda by the terrorists and their collaborators to cause disaffection against the federal government and the armed forces in the light of the obvious huge successes of the ongoing counter-terrorism military-led operations across the northeast’.
Nwankpa called for more support for the military under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, as it continues to tackle the terrorists.
