Tracka, an initiative of BudgIT, has announced the extension of its community tracking engagements to Abia, Bauchi, and Benue States.
Development Diaries gathered that Tracka, BudgIT’s transparency platform that allows citizens to collaborate, track, and give feedback on public projects, made this announcement in a press release signed by the organisation’s Communication Associate, Iyanu Fatoba.
BudgIT, before now, had set up Tracka in 26 states in Nigeria.
The platform, according to BudgIT, ensures citizens are well informed on budget allocation and implementation processes by providing them with adequate budgetary information.
‘We will be engaging government officials and agencies via written letters to follow up on projects’, Head of Tracka, Uademen Ilevbaoje, said.
‘Citizens who have access to digital platforms will also be trained on the use of social media as feedback loop, and the reviews will be aggregated to build actionable intelligence’.
Citizens, it is understood, will be trained on how to utilise the Freedom of Information (FoI) policy for information request on budget allocations to their communities.
