Nigeria: AGRF Announces Adebisi Araba as MD

The African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) has issued a statement announcing Dr Adebisi Araba as the new Managing Director of the organisation.

Araba, who holds a doctorate degree from the Imperial College Centre for Environmental Policy (ICCEP), London, will be responsible for driving the organisation’s strategic growth and managing the daily businesses of the Secretariat as an independent, Pan African, and multi-partner forum.

Under his leadership, AGRF expects to strengthen its year-round business lines in a bid to advance its continental agenda through its ten thematic platforms, amplify key knowledge and ideas concerning AGRF’s vision through advocacy and communications, and direct engagement with key regional and global moments and the African Food Prize platform.

Araba, who will be based in Kigali, Rwanda, following his appointment, will lead his team to continuously drive the annual AGRF summit for advancing African agriculture and food systems aligned to the goals of the Malabo Declaration and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Recognised as a thought leader in Africa’s agricultural sector, Araba serves as a member of the Montpellier Malabo Panel of experts working to strengthen African and European governments’ support for agricultural development and food security priorities in Africa.

He has also served as a member of the advisory committee of the African Leaders for Nutrition (ALN) and the New Vision for Agricultural Transformation Leaders Network (NVATLN) of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Araba holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, a master’s degree in Clean Technology from the University of Newcastle, and a bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography from the University of Ibadan.
